hands down, one of the best aspects of OS X 10.10 Yosemite is the game allows between Mac and iOS devices . Using your MacBook as a speaker for iPhone calls is a pretty cool feeling - and it "just works" really true Apple fashion. (SMS relay and other characteristics of continuity can be slightly more difficult to move.) But there is one thing missing that Apple gave us with Yosemite: a dedicated phone dialer. Or at least traditional. You can make calls almost anywhere through the FaceTime app; Start typing the name of a number or a contact in the text field and you'll see an option to make this appeal with the iPhone.

But some people like to always enter the old phone numbers, and many are probably clueless that FaceTime can help. For them, applying simple and dedicated numbering might prove easier. That's where the continuity of the keyboard comes in. Available now in beta download, continuity keyboard essentially acts as an intermediary between you and the FaceTime application. Dialling (yes, you will hear tones), press the green button, and OS X will immediately open and FaceTime call. Well, not immediately you will still need to hit another "call" button until your iPhone starts dialing. And apart from other small features like "add to contacts," which is really all continuity is key. (There is a Notification Center widget on hand, too.) Its developers hope to launch in the Mac App Store for $ 0.99 soon with new features and a revamped user interface ready to go the first day.

For now, the continuity of the keyboard remains reviewed at Apple - and it is not difficult to foresee problems. First, it looks like something Apple would ship; beta dialer (below) looked almost identical look to what you see on an iPhone. Perhaps this is why a revised version (above) is what has been submitted to Apple. And having "continuity" right to the name could cause problems as well. Apple usually do not like third-party developers that encroach on its own terms of branding and PR speak. Third, we could say that it absolutely duplication feature that is already integrated in Yosemite, although it is a bit hidden.

Tacking a $ 0.99 price on all this makes everything more complicated . Free could be a wiser course to pursue if approval is the goal. Yet it seems like a dialer application should exist for those who wish, so hopefully keyboard continuity may eventually find its way into the Mac App Store. Although gets caught in limbo, you can grab the beta now.
