disclosed documents revealed earlier this week that Microsoft plans to kill the brand Windows Phone this holiday season for a few Windows. Now a new handset from My Go seems to be one of the first to use the Windows logo instead of Windows Phone. Images available on My Go site show a variety of Windows logos, and the Windows logo placement at the back of the device next GoFone GF47W.
The plans of my way to brand its devices that Windows follows a similar move by HTC with its One M8 for Windows instead of Windows Phone to the name of the device, but HTC still chose include a Windows Phone logo on the back of the unit. The transition to just the Windows name seems to be a move by Microsoft for a combined version of Windows RT and Windows Phone due next year. As the future operating system will run on phones and small tablets, it would not be logical keeping the Windows Phone brand for devices that are clearly not the phones. Microsoft is also down the Nokia brand its future Lumia handsets, and the company is phasing out its Nokia marketing this holiday season for Windows and Lumia.
